Colorado Rockies prospect Yency Almonte pitches five scoreless innings in win

The right-hander helped Albuquerque to a 4-0 victory in Reno.

Albuquerque Isotopes pitcher Yency Almonte had his second straight scoreless outing in a 4-0 win over Reno on Thursday.

Almonte pitched five shutout innings for the Isotopes, allowing five hits, all singles, and three walks while striking out two. He threw 75 pitches, 45 for strikes. The performance followed up his last start against Salt Lake in which he threw six scoreless innings. Almonte struggled upon his promotion to Triple-A, but has seen his ERA drop from 7.43 to 5.03 over his last two starts.

Rehabbing Rockies starter Tyler Anderson followed Almonte on the mound, allowing just one hit in three scoreless innings with no walks and four strikeouts.
