Colorado Rockies 2018 regular season schedule released

Opening day is in March next year

The Colorado Rockies released their 2018 regular season schedule Tuesday.

The biggest news is that Major League Baseball has pushed opening day forward by a whole series. Instead of opening the season on a Monday which has been the norm for the Rockies, they will instead open the season in Arizona on a Thursday. This will allow for the opening day festivities to be spread out over a weekend as opposed to the middle of a week when kids are still in school.

The Rockies will play their first two series on the road at Arizona and San Diego before returning to Coors Field for their home opener against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, April 6. The Rockies will also end the season with a seven-game homestand against the Phillies and Nationals concluding on Sunday, September 30th.

The 2018 MLB All-Star Game festivities will be hosted by the Washington Nationals July 16-19.

The Rockies have scheduled three fireworks game for Coors Field as well. The first two are July 3rd and 4th against the Giants. The last one is September 28 during the final series of the season against the Nationals.

The Rockies are scheduled to play the AL West in interleague play next year. The Rockies will host the LA Angels, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners and Oakland A’s at Coors Field and will also visit the Angels, Astros, Mariners and Texas Rangers as part of their interleague schedule.
