Every playoff team's one big lineup question | SweetSpot- ESPN
This serves as an interesting look into what all the playoff teams are dealing with as we head down the stretch. David Schoenfield has this to say about the Rockies: "As an aside, I’d bat DJ LeMahieu leadoff and Charlie Blackmon second to give Blackmon a few more runners on base, but there’s also nothing wrong with starting the game with a 1-0 lead." I feel like I've read that before somewhere....
Rockies tab Bettis to start Saturday | MLB.com
"The Rockies hope extra rest and a few mechanical adjustments will help right-hander Chad Bettis return to form. They've officially tabbed him to start Saturday's game against the Padres opposite right-hander Jhoulys Chacin, manager Bud Black said Wednesday." Whatever it takes to get him going; the Rockies will need to win, if not sweep, the Padres this weekend as the wild card race gets into do-or-die territory with the Brewers surging.
Coors Field will get a massive new video board and a sound system | The Denver Post
It's been ten years since the Rockies updated the video board in left field and this winter, they're getting an upgrade. Nick Groke has all the details but this is the money quote:
"The Rockies will partner with Daktronics to install a large-format LED video display and scoreboard measuring 8,369 square feet — about twice as large as the current Coors Field scoreboard. The board will be uniquely shaped, with a mountain cutout atop the display.”
That’ll probably look really cool, y’all.

Adam Frazier’s walk-off home run ends Pirates’ losing streak | Bucs Dugout
Those of you who have been saying, “I just want to play meaningful games in September,” how do you feel now that you’ve gotten your wish? The Brewers lost in a walk-off last night and the Rockies maintained their one game lead in the wild card race.
Rockies' Neshek blasts Diamondbacks' Greinke over autographs | AZ Central
Everyone likes autographs, right? Turns out Rockies reliever Pat Neshek collects them, ostensibly for his son. Apparently, at the All-Star Game this year, Neshek tried to get one from Zack Greinke, who gave him a "later," only to blow off Neshek and flat out say "I'll never sign for you" when "later" came. Neshek took to Twitter to further explain his position. There's room for debate who's more in the wrong here, but in any case, #ZachGreinkeIsATurd should be trending.
