Colorado Rockies: Let’s stop with the Paul Goldschmidt rumors | Rox Pile
A recent article from Sports Illustrated listed the Colorado Rockies as one of the “best fits” in a hypothetical Paul Goldschmidt trade. It is very nice to think about as the Rockies would not only be getting better than a 60 percent upgrade in wRC+ at first base but would also be lucky enough not to have to face Goldschmidt as an opponent. However, as Kevin Henry of Rox Pile puts it, “It’s likely just a pipe dream.” While the Arizona Diamondbacks have stated a willingness to at least listen to offers on Goldschmidt, the likelihood that they would trade the face of the franchise isn’t all that great. It further stands to reason that they’d be hesitant to deal Goldschmidt to a division rival, even if it is just for one season. The Rockies and General Manager Jeff Bridich would also likely be reluctant to part with young talent for pure rental in Goldschmidt.
