Rockies make multiple moves ahead of 40-man roster deadline, including designating Jordan Patterson for assignment | Denver Post ($)

In a rush to beat the deadline, the Rockies made some hurried moves to hold onto some of their best prospects. The Rockies snagged two pitchers, Ryan Castellani and Justin Lawrence, an infielder, Josh Fuentes, and outfielder Sam Hilliard. The Rockies also designated for assignment Jordan Patterson. Those players the Rockies protected are now safe from the Rule 5 Draft in December. The Rockies have long had impressive depth in their roster, and now they’ve got some more secure prospects.

The Rockies signed former Chicago White Sox player Brandon Brennan to a minor league deal. Brennan played well enough with the Chicago minor leagues as a pitcher. He has yet to play in the major leagues, but this consistent player can help add even more depth to the Rockies organization.
