Analytics unveil where Arenado, Blackmon, Freeland, Marquez and Story must improve | Mile High Sports
When thinking about how the Colorado Rockies could improve in 2019, names like Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Kyle Freeland, German Márquez and Trevor Story certainly do not rank among the main candidates for necessary steps forward. However, there are areas in which each can improve. As Luke Zahlmann of Mile High Sports writes, Arenado can improve his late-innings numbers, Story can provide more consistency, Blackmon can work on his outfield play (perhaps aided by a transition to a corner spot), Márquez can get rid of his changeup and Freeland can improve his ground-ball rate.

At The Athletic, Cliff Corcoran details the Hall of Fame candidacy for each of 2019’s ballot members. While Todd Helton is listed among the top newcomers, it is expected that he will receive much the same treatment as Larry Walker has and be discounted for his strong offensive numbers because he played his home games at Coors Field. Corcoran expects that Mariano Rivera and Edgar Martínez will be the two players inducted in 2019.
