Baseball has officially returned. And the Rockies and Diamondbacks will play in the penultimate game of the 13-game MLB Opening Day. It was a long winter, but we’re here.
The 2018 season will get underway with the first of the three-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. You’ll remember the last time we saw these two teams at this stadium they played a thrilling (and stupid) National League Wild Card Game. No need to rehash who came out on top.
Jon Gray takes the mound for the Rockies in their season debut and Patrick Corbin starts for the Diamondbacks in place of the injured ace of the staff Zack Greinke. You can get a more full preview of the Diamondbacks here.
Here are the lineups. There are no real surprises here, especially after the last few weeks of Spring Training. Alas, Ryan McMahon starts his first Opening Day on the bench while Charlie Blackmon leads off, followed by DJ LeMahieu, and Nolan Arenado. Trevor Story bats cleanup.
