FanPost Friday: Playing other sports

Recast the Rockies roster out of baseball

The NHL and NBA are both in the thick of their playoffs, with just four teams remaining in each league. The NFL recently had their annual draft. The FIFA World Cup is a month away. People golf sometimes on TV.

The point is there are other sports out there (believe it or not). And while there are a few Rockies players who were born to play baseball and nothing else, surely there are a few who would thrive elsewhere.

What other sports would the best players on the Rockies be well-suited for and why? If they couldn’t play baseball what sport should they play?

Back in the day this would be an obvious question, with Seth Smith, Matt Holliday, and Todd Helton all going to play quarterback for the Broncos. Now, it makes for an interesting discussion. Could David Dahl hoop? Would Daniel Castro make a good soccer player? Don’t think you have to limit it to team sports, though! Should Tony Wolters take up badminton? You could tell the alternative history of just one player or you could assign each player on the roster a new sport.

Write up a FanPost (if you’ve never done one here are a couple handy guides for you) and tell us all about it. Make sure to include “FPF” in the title and we will post some of our favorites on the front page next week.
