Mylz Jones lights up Portland in 5-2 Hartford win

Hartford’s strong May continues with another win over the Sea Dogs

Since a troublesome 0-6 start to the season, the Hartford Yard Goats have put on a bit of a show in the Eastern League. They’re 25-14 since the winless week in April, putting them firmly back into the EL divisional race and showing the high level of talent the Rockies AA team contains.

Last night, 24-year-old Mylz Jones made his mark with a dominating offensive performance to carry the Goats over Portland on the road.

Jones went 3-for-3 with a home run Wednesday night, his fifth home run of the season, and scored three of the five runs. On a night where the Goats usual stars had quiet bats, Jones stepped up to ensure the club didn’t miss a beat, boosting his average to .270 in the process and keeping the Goats within three games of the division leading Fisher Cats
