The Albuquerque Isotopes could never be accused of playing in a pitchers park, but last night the ‘Topes and Grizzlies played in shootout that was crazy even by PCL standards.
Isotopes hitters hit four home runs on Wednesday but that proved to be one short as the Grizzlies held on for 12-11 win in extra innings. Tom Murphy and Raimel Tapia continued to knock on the door of the majors with a home run each in addition to prospects Josh Fuentes and Jan Vazquez home runs. Murphy’s home run in the seventh tied the game at eight, but the teams were no where near finished.
The Isotopes offensive success has only added to the frustration of Rockies fan clamoring for more production from the big club. Murphy especially has been seen as a call-up candidate and another home run will only add more noise to that.
