Bullpen self-destructs again, Rockies lose 13-12 in finale against Rangers | Mile High Sports

The Rockies were able to put together some good defense in Sunday’s game. They got off to an early lead, sitting at 5-1 in the fifth. Gerardo Parra, Ian Desmond, Carlos Gonzalez connected, all of which are good signs for the team that needs to get out of an offensive slump. Wade Davis blows another save, and the Rockies continue to struggle, losing eight of their last ten.

Texas native Chad Bettis recreated a childhood photo at Globe Life Park in Arlington | MLB.com

Like Trevor Story, Chad Bettis is a native of Texas, hailing from Lubbock. Bettis had a solid game on Friday. He fell behind early, but was able to fight his way back to help lead the Rockies to the win. This has been something Rockies pitching has had a hard time with. Falling behind early has been kryptonite for the pitching rotation. It was encouraging to see him be able to do this, and it was a good place for him to deliver. A young, ten-year-old Bettis visited the park in Arlington, and now that young dreamer has been able to accomplish so much. Trevor Story was also able to play in a park he grew up around. It has to be a weird feeling to be playing against the team you rooted for as a kid, but these guys are pros, and while it was probably weird for a minute, the guys were ready to get down to business.
