Rockies prospect Jordan Patterson hits walk-off bomb for the ‘Topes

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Tuesday, June 19, 2018

Jordan Patterson came up with the huge walk-off home run for the Isotopes on Tuesday night, his 15th bomb of the season and 55th career home run for the Rockies Triple-A affiliate (T-2nd all-time). Jordan is now slashing .270/.372/.545 for Albuquerque and has four home runs and eleven RBI in his last six games. Additionally, Raimel Tapia had two hits for the ‘Topes, scored twice, and stole three bases — a true offensive spark plug.

With Ian Desmond hitting decently and Ryan McMahon on the major league roster, it’s unlikely we’ll see Patterson in a Rockies uniform prior to September unless one of the two aforementioned first-basemen gets injured. But Jordan is without a doubt forcing his name into the conversation as a possible 1B and offensive solution if the Rockies offense falters or further depth is required.

In minor league all-star news, two Rockies prospects walked away as Home Run Derby champions Tuesday — Chad Spanberger for the South Atlantic League and Roberto Ramos for the California League. Both put on a show at their respective events and made their parent organization proud. Spanberger has been lighting up the SAL, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him join Ramos in Lancaster at some point in 2018.
