Despite hits from every starting position player on Wednesday night, the Hartford Yard Goats fell to the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-4 and dropped back to .500 at 38-38 on the season.
Aramis Garcia’s sixth inning home run off Jesus Tinoco proved the difference as the Goats offense went silent once Richmond’s bullpen entered the game. Brendan Rodgers and Brian Mundell led the way with an RBI each and three combined runs scored. The Rockies #1 prospect slapped a double to up his OPS to .860 and tallied his 51st RBI on the year.
Jesus Tinoco showed life despite allowing five runs, striking out eight batters and only walking two in his six innings. Tinoco’s improved his strikeout rate in Hartford and is starting to look more like the targeted prospect the Rockies hoped for when they acquired Tinoco for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in 2015.
