Rockies prospect Grant Lavigne hits first pro home run

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from June 29, 2018

The Friday night high and lowlights mostly came from the non-PuRP sector. Here are some things to know.

Jeff Hoffman had a bad outing for Albuquerque. While he didn’t give up any hits in his 213 innings pitched for Albuquerque, he did walk three batters and gave up a run. In other words, it wasn’t that different from his last sting with the major-league club. The 25-year-old may find his way back to the majors a couple more times before the season is through, but given what we’ve seen from Hoffman in 2018, those travels north won’t really inspire much confidence.

In other non-PuRP but nevertheless compelling news, Roberto Ramos demonstrated that he’s all too human. Ramos has been excellent since his promotion to Double-A, highlighted by his 5-for-8 with four home run performance over the course of two games, but last night wasn’t so great. He went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. It dropped his Hartford slash line to .320/.393/1.000.

In more positive news, Grant Lavigne hit his first professional home run for the Grand Junction Rockies. Lavigne was the Rockies’ second selection in this year’s amateur draft and 42nd overall.
