Raimel Tapia and Garrett Hampson combined for half of Albuquerque’s total hits last night, and led the the Isotopes to victory at the top of the order using their impressive speed tools. Tapia had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice — most notably in the top of the 6th when he stole home to give the ‘Topes the lead. Hampson was perfect at the plate and went 3-for-3 with two runs, a double, and his fifth stolen base since his promotion to Triple-A.
In Double-A, Brendan Rodgers continued his impressive year for the Yard Goats by going 2-for-4 with a two-run triple, and Forrest Wall showed great discipline at the plate by walking three times, scoring twice, and picking up his second stolen base since joining Hartford.
Speaking of stolen bases, the Rockies organization as a whole continues to place a great emphasis on base stealing this season. This was very evident in the recently underway Dominican Summer League games from last night in which the DSL Rockies and DSL Colorado combined to steal nine bags. Speed kills, and the Rockies don’t want to be left in the dust when it comes to aggressive base-running.
