Colorado Rockies prospect Brian Mundell has a four-hit day for the Hartford Yard Goats

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from June 7, 2018.

The Colorado Rockies had a tough day across their farm system on Thursday, as only two of the Rockies’ six affiliates was able to come away with a victory. There were, however, some strong individual performances in spite of the less-than-ideal team performance. One such performance came from No. 13 PuRP Brian Mundell, who homered as part of a four-hit day in Double-A Hartford’s 13 inning loss. The 24-year-old righty got off to a slow start in 2018, hitting just .221/.320/.322 in his first 44 games of the season, but has started to heat up of late. Since May 25, Mundell is hitting .392/.466/.647 across 59 plate appearances to bolster his overall slash line on the season to .265/.357/.405.

These certainly aren’t eye-popping numbers, but we’ve now gotten over 400 plate appearances of above average production from Mundell in Double-A. At his age, it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see him make the move to Triple-A at some point in the near future.
