The Colorado Rockies have placed pitcher Antonio Senzatela on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his right middle finger and recalled Jeff Hoffman to start against the Seattle Mariners tonight, the team announced.
Also, the Rockies announced that Jon Gray would start Saturday’s game against Seattle, though an official roster move will not be made until tomorrow.
Senzatela has made a pair of starts and 10 relief appearances with the Rockies this season, posting a 5.34 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 30 1⁄3 innings of work. In his rookie season last year, he had a 4.68 ERA in 134 2⁄3 innings over 20 starts and 16 relief appearances.
Meanwhile, Hoffman has appeared exclusively out of the bullpen for the Rockies this season, allowing six earned runs in 5 1⁄3 innings. He has made a dozen starts with Triple-A Albuquerque this season, with a 3.97 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 56 2⁄3 innings.
Gray will return to the Rockies after a brief stint in Albuquerque in which he allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits in 10 2⁄3 innings with four walks and 13 strikeouts.
