Thursday Pebble Report: Behind McMahon’s two home runs, Peter Lambert wins in AAA debut

Isotopes poke over .500 with big win over Tacoma

The news that Number Four PuRP Peter Lambert had been promoted to AAA Albuquerque last week surprised a lot of people. The 21-year-old was outstanding so far this year in AA Hartford sporting a 2.23 ERA, managing to keep hitters off balance to a .236 BAA and a 0.99 WHIP throughout his time in AA. Still, despite the dominance, Lambert had some parts of his game to improve. His K rate is fine, but not overwhelming. His stuff was good enough keep the ball in the yard in the Eastern League but the PCL is another monster altogether.

Lambert made his debut last night in Albuquerque and showed that maybe it shouldn’t have been such a surprise after all.

The former second round pick allowed only two runs over six innings of work. Bolstered by a two homer, four RBI night from Ryan McMahon, Lambert coasted to a debut victory as the Isotopes lifted themselves over .500 with an 8-2 win.
