Rockies prospect Grant Lavigne continues impressive professional debut

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Friday, July 6, 2018

It’s been some week for Grant Lavigne. The only high school signee from the Rockies 2018 draft class has been making an impression through 12 professional games, hitting .400/.481/.689 heading into Friday’s game against Ogden. Then his line improved.

Grand Junction was down by six before they even stepped to the plate. Lavigne began the comeback with his fourth home run in the bottom of the second to make it 6-1. It was 9-2 when he stepped to the plate in the bottom of the third and singled home two runs and later coming around to score on a three run home run from Franklin Garcia. Unfortunately, with the game tying run on third in the eighth, Lavigne was called out on strikes and the comeback ultimately fell short. Nobody’s perfect.

Drafted in the competitive balance round out of Beford High School in New Hampshire, Grant Lavigne profiles as a power hitting lefty with good knowledge of the strikezone. So far he has six walks and eight strikeouts in 49 at bats, leading to his now (small-sample-size-disclaimer) ridiculous .408/.485/.735 batting line.

So. Do you have room on your PuRPs list for Grant Lavigne?
