Rockies prospect Ryan Castellani breaks the Rumble Ponies, pitches a gem for Hartford

New, comments

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Monday, July 30, and Tuesday, July 31, 2018

In arguably his best start since April, Ryan Castellani pitched a gem for Hartford yesterday by tossing six innings of one-run ball and taming the Rumble Ponies of Binghamton. He gave up five hits (including a solo home run), no walks, and struck out five batters. He also threw 67 of his 92 pitches for strikes, the most strikes he’s thrown all year. After a great start to the season, Castellani has had a rough go of it for the Goats, but hopefully this outing is a sign of things improving for Ryan and not just a blip on the radar.

On the offensive side of the ball, Dom Nuñez had a big day for Hartford, smacking a double and a home run, Coco Montes hit two bombs for Grand Junction—he’s now slashing .374/.440/.595 in his first season with the Rockies—and Colton Welker had another multi-hit game with a double and two RBI for the JetHawks.
