Licking their wounds after a blowout loss Wednesday night in Houston against the defending World Series champs, the Rockies face off against the Braves for a weekend series in Atlanta. Colorado looks to start another winning streak against one of the hottest teams outside of St Louis. The Braves are on a five-game winning streak and hold a two game lead over the Phillies for the NL East lead.
Two pitchers once considered to be their staff aces but now have ERA’s over 4.00 face off tonight in the series opener. Jon Gray, who was effective enough in his last start against the Dodgers, will start opposite Julio Teheran.
In other lineup news, Nolan Arenado returns to the hot corner after being limited to pinch-hit or DH duties. Charlie Blackmon will get the day off and give way to David Dahl in centerfield (at least for today).
