Rockies 11, Braves 5: Kyle Freeland and and an offensive barrage

The Rockies won handily on Friday

The Rockies won easily on Friday night, beating the Braves 11-5 behind a strong performance from Kyle Freeland and a whole lot of hits. It wasn’t even as close as the score indicates, as the Braves posted three runs during trash time in the ninth inning.

The Rockies set a franchise record yesterday by going 24-games without scoring more than six runs. That streak ended tonight in the fourth inning when Charlie Blackmon hit a two-run triple and then came home on a wild pitch to make it 7-1. Blackmon, DJ LeMahieu, Trevor Story, and Ian Desmond each had three hits in the Rockies big win.

Kyle Freeland

Kyle Freeland was sharp once again. He stifled Braves hitters, allowing three hits and one run, and kept them off balance all night, and Kyle even legged out a bunt single. Freeland struck out nine batters in six innings, though he did walk four as well. He also lowered his season ERA to a cool 2.96.

Kyle Freeland, guys!
