Rockies prospects Lambert, Rolison, and Castellani shine while Casey Golden takes home MVP hardware

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Tuesday, August 28, 2018

It was a busy night on the farm for Rockies pitching prospects, as Peter Lambert, Ryan Rolison, and Ryan Castellani (PuRPs #2, #4, and #7, respectively) all pitched well for their clubs. Rolison—in limited action again—clipped the Chukars over three innings, giving up one earned run on three hits, a walk, and struck out four. It was his fifth consecutive start giving up one earned run or less and he now has a 2.08 ERA in twenty-six innings.

Lambert, having a hard time adjusting to Triple-A batters so far, had a great bounce-back performance by tossing six scoreless innings, and Castellani pitched strong, as well, giving up three runs over six innings while striking out seven. Rockies fans have to feel good about pitching prospects in the pipeline, as some golden arms continue to develop and look to make an impact down the road.

Casey Golden had a big day on and off the field for the Tourists. Prior to their game against Kannapolis, Golden was named the South Atlantic League end-of-season All-Star MVP, and then went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Entering play Tuesday, Casey had an incredible 158 wRC+ with 32 home runs and 23 stolen bases—the SAL’s only 20-20 member this season.
