Update: 3:59 MT: The “TBA” player is, indeed, Brendan Rodgers.
Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2018 Arizona Fall League Thursday afternoon. The Rockies will have seven representatives playing for the Salt River Rafters.
Right now, the group is led by right-handed pitcher and number 7 PuRP Ryan Castellani. He’s one of four Rockies pitchers selected to the roster. The other three are number 21 PuRP Jesus Tinoco, Justin Lawrence, and lefty Mitch Horacek.
Three position players round out the seven Rockies representatives. At the moment, number 13 PuRP Sam Hilliard leads this group, and he’s joined by Josh Fuentes. The remaining position player is an infielder currently listed as “TBA.” That’s the reason for the “right now” and “at the moment” qualifications. The Rockies top Brendan Rodgers, who is currently in Triple-A, very well could take that spot on the roster. Or, it could be number 3 PuRP Colton Welker, who is currently in High-A Lancaster — the one Rockies affiliate to make the minor league postseason.
The Arizona Fall League will begin on October 9th and finish with its championship game on November 17th. The Fall Stars Game is scheduled for the third of November.
