Grand Junction Rockies survive and advance to Pioneer League Championship Series

Prospect news and game results from the Rockies minor league affiliates from Sunday, September 9, 2018.

The Grand Junction Rockies are on a roll, advancing to the Pioneer League Championship Series for the first time in their history. Fittingly, they beat the Ogden Raptors — the Dodgers’ rookie affiliate — to advance. Just like a lot of Rockies-Dodgers games, it was a little nerve wracking but the Rockies pulled it out. They scored all six of their runs in the first two innings, but the Raptors clawed back — scoring two in the third, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth before being ultimately shut down by the tandem of Colton Harlow, Aneudy Duarte, and Alexander Martinez in the final three innings. The three combined for 3.0 innings, one hit, zero runs, zero walks, and four strikeouts.

They will take on the Great Falls Voyagers — the Chicago White Sox rookie affiliate — beginning on Tuesday, September 11 for the first of a best of three series to determine a Pioneer League champion.
