Grand Junction Rockies lose to Voyagers, fall just short of winning Pioneer League

Thursday was the final night of action for Rockies minor league affiliates. The Grand Junction Rockies were the final remaining team with their postseason run, but they were eliminated by the Great Falls Voyagers in the second game of the best-of-three series. They lost in a shootout 12-9 on Tuesday and lost 6-4 on Thursday, ending their hopes of winning their first ever Pioneer League championship. The Rockies finished the regular season with a record of 23-15.

Ryan Rolison (no. 4 PuRP) finished his season with a 1.86 ERA, eight walks, 34 strikeouts, and 0.79 WHIP in nine starts with the Rockies. Grant Lavigne (no. 9 PuRP) recorded a .350/.477/.519 slash with 21 extra base hits (including six home runs), 38 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. Daniel Montano (no. 14 PuRP) was recently promoted from the Dominican Summer League and finished 2018 with a .279/.338/.433 slash, 24 extra base hits (four home runs), 29 RBI, and nine stolen bases.
