As the Rockies contend for their first division title, the rest of the NL West is not making it any easier. With the win on Sunday, the Rockies eliminated the Diamondbacks, but the Dodgers did not give up much ground, bouncing back after Friday’s loss to stomp the Padres. Sweeping the Diamondbacks was crucial, though, and we now will face two more teams who have already been eliminated from the playoffs. We are still sitting a game and a half behind the Dodgers, but we’re looking good, and all we can do is continue to play the game our way.

Despite sweeping the Diamondbacks, the Rockies are still having some offense issues. Part of this is just a rough time due to injuries and slumps, but part of it is the management of the team. Bridich has indicated a preference for veteran players, but this lineup has certainly struggled. There might ultimately be some regret over not picking up some offensive help before the trade deadline, but for now we have to wait and see what the team we have now can do before the end of the regular season.

It may have taken a while, but Ryan Spilbourghs was able to organize a Rockies cheering section at Chase Field. In the midst of a playoff bid, fan involvement can only help the boys in purple. Plus, it’s clear the Rockies fans had some fun of their own in Arizona.
