Trevor Story’s three home run game on Wednesday night wasn’t the first in Rockies history. It was the seventeenth. And the last one was just over a year ago. But this one stands out for a couple of reasons. First, this was the first three home run game from a Rockies player that came during a crucial September game. Those homers led the Rockies to win a game they needed to win, which makes it different from Jason Giambi knocking three home runs in May. Second, those home runs went a long way. The 505-er was the longest recorded home run in Coors Field history, and the other two traveled well over 400 feet apiece. Collectively, they went about a quarter-mile.
