German Márquez lost a no hitter in the eighth

Brandon Crawford led off the eighth inning with a rocket to Nolan Arenado, which he somehow wrangled and turned into an out.

Evan Longoria, however, squeaked a single through the left side of the infield to end German Márquez’s no-hit bid.

Despite it, a great performance.

UPDATE, 3:59 pm MT

Márquez has taken his no hitter through seven innings now, as he retired Joe Panik, Buster Posey, and Brandon Belt in order.

Here are the next six batters in the Giants’ lineup:

Brandon Crawford
Evan Longoria
Kevin Pillar
Gerardo Parra
Pitcher’s spot
Steven Duggar

German Márquez is working on a no hitter in San Francisco. He put down the first 15 Giants he faced, but he hit Kevin Pillar with a pitch to lead off the sixth inning. Márquez has struck out 7. Obviously, he looks really sharp and all of his pitches are working for him. He’s thrown 66 pitches.

We’ll keep you up to date on German’s progress here. For now: LET’S DO IT!
