The Rockies (14-17) snapped their losing streak last night and earned (what has become) a rare victory in Milwaukee. They go for the series split this afternoon in the last game of a seven game roadtrip. They are 3-3 on the trip now so this game is a rubber match in more ways than one.
Jon Gray will toe the rubber for the Rockies. After a run of three excellent starts he was a little shaky last time out in Atlanta, giving up five runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 4 2⁄3 innings. He’ll hope to replicate his last start in Milwaukee on August 5 of last year (8 IP, 4 H, 1 R/ER, 2 BB, 8 K), especially after the bullpen picked up five innings last night.
Freddy Peralta will start opposite him. Peralta is 1-0 with 7.13 ERA over four starts and 17 1⁄3 innings. That ugly 1.53 WHIP is balanced with a 11.4 K/9.
