Isotopes pitcher Peter Lambert (no. 2 PuRP) was electric in his last outing against the Las Vegas Aviators. The 22-year-old righty from San Dimas, CA pitched seven innings of shutout baseball — giving up seven hits but also striking out ten. On top of giving up zero runs, he also did not walk a single batter. It was his best outing to date.
Triple-A: Albuquerque Isotopes, 1-6 (24-27)
On the flip side, Ryan Castellani (no. 10 PuRP) struggled in his first game back from the Injured List. The 23-year-old Phoenix native pitched only 2 2⁄3 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits. He also only struck out two and walked three.
Double-A: Hartford Yard Goats, 4-2 (28-21)
Third baseman Colton Welker (no. 3 PuRP) is off to a good start this season, hitting .314/.358/.483 with four homers on the season. He started 0-for-10 this week, but then finished 7-for-15 and smacked two doubles, a triple, and a homer. Welker leads the team in doubles and batting average and is tied for third in homers. He is also second in on-base percentage and slugging behind slugger Vince Fernandez (no. 21 PuRP).
High-A: Lancaster JetHawks, 4-2 (26-21)
Ryan Rolison (no. 5 PuRP) had his worst outing of the season in Lancaster on Friday. In five innings, Rolison gave up five hits and season-high four runs (three earned). He also walked a season-high four batters and struck out six. However, despite all of that, he did not give up a home run so that’s a bonus.
Low-A: Asheville Tourists, 5-2 (19-29)
Shortstop Terrin Vavra (no. 13 PuRP) had a great week, going 10-for-29 with another home run. Vavra’s sixth home run puts him second on the team. He also leads the team in doubles after hitting four more this week, as well as average and slugging.
