Colorado Rockies game no. 54 thread: Robbie Ray vs. Jeff Hoffman

Can the Rockies win the series?

After being deadlocked at two apiece in the seventh inning, the Rockies rallied behind Chris Iannetta and Ryan McMahon to hand the Diamondbacks their seventh loss in their last ten games. Now, the Rockies will look to win the four game series against the Snakes with one game left tomorrow. Jeff Hoffman will take the mound against southpaw Robbie Ray. Hoffman will be making his third appearance for the Rockies, and hasn’t been overly sharp in his last two outings. He’s lasted only five innings both times, and last time against the Orioles he gave up five runs on seven hits and walked two while striking out three. Robbie Ray has been a mystery for the Diamondbacks. He has the numbers to be a top of the rotation pitcher, but he always racks up high pitch counts so he gets knocked out of games early. He’s pitched six innings twice this year, but usually is out after five. Currently, Ray is 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 58 innings.
