A two-run home run from Charlie Blackmon and an RBI groundout from David Dahl in the bottom of the ninth were not enough for the Rockies to overcome a 10-6 deficit in a 10-9 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies had the tying run on third and the winning run on second with one out against Diamondbacks closer Greg Holland, but Ian Desmond and Chris Iannetta both struck out, ending the game.
Anderson roughed up again
Tyler Anderson’s tough start to 2019 continued on Friday as he allowed six runs, all earned, on seven hits in four innings of work, walking one and striking out five. He also coughed up a pair of home runs, throwing 81 pitches, 60 for strikes. His ERA climbed to 11.76 on the season to go with a 7.53 FIP and 2.12 WHIP in 20 2⁄3 innings in which he has allowed eight home runs.
McMahon goes deep
On the bench to start the game against Arizona lefty Robbie Ray, Ryan McMahon was able to make his impact in the sixth against reliever T.J. McFarland:

McMahon’s two-run homer cut the Rockies deficit to 7-6 at the time, and he stayed in the game, producing a single to lead off the bottom of the ninth and scoring on Blackmon’s home run.
Looking ahead
The Rockies will look to bounce back tomorrow as they continue the series with Arizona. Kyle Freeland will take the mound against Luke Weaver in a game scheduled for 6:10 p.m. Mountain time.
