The Rockies (27-27) take on the Diamondbacks (28-28) in a Thursday matinee at Coors Field looking to complete their first sweep* of the season.
(*of greater than two games)
Kyle Freeland is mired in the worst stretch of baseball in his young career. In his last five starts he has given up 31 runs (29 earned) on 38 hits with 15 walks and 18 strikeouts. That’s good for a 9.10 ERA, a 1.85 WHIP, and an opponents batting line of .306/.379/.629. That streak began with a May 4 start against the Diamondbacks that resulted in eight runs allowed over six innings.
Taylor Clarke has made three spot starts for the Dbacks this season, the last coming last Saturday against the Giants. He went 6 1⁄3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
This is one of the 11 Rockies games not on television in the AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain broadcast area this season. Unless MLB Network decides to put them on (or you play fast and loose with blackout blockers) this will be the place to follow the action.
