Rockies option Tyler Anderson to Albuquerque, place Harrison Musgrave on IL; recall Yency Almonte and DJ Johnson

The struggling starter will get a chance to right the ship with the Isotopes

Tyler Anderson has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque, the club announced. Anderson has struggled so far in 2019, posting an 0-3 record and 11.76 ERA in five starts — 27 earned runs in 20 23 innings. None of those starts have lasted more than five innings. He has given up a team-leading eight home runs, but has walked 11 and struck out 23. Anderson spent time on the injured list from April 7-22 and since being back, he has given up six of those eight homers and hasn’t lasted more than four innings in a game. This is the first time Anderson has been optioned since his MLB debut on June 12, 2016.

Harrison Musgrave is being placed on the injured list for the second time in his career. The last time he went down was July 14-24 2018 with a right hip flexor strain. This time, he is dealing with a left elbow flexor strain. In 2019, he has posted a 3.60 ERA in ten innings with seven walks and 12 strikeouts. Hopefully this injury isn’t lingering.

They are being replaced by Yency Almonte and DJ Johnson, who will both be placed in the bullpen for the time being.
