Albuquerque Isotopes first baseman Brian Mundell (no. 29 PuRP) had a very, very good week at the plate. Mundell went 11-for-22 with a double (12), triple (2), and a home run (5). Mundell went 0-for-4 on Saturday and recorded a hit in his only plate appearance on Sunday, but recorded two hits in every other game he played this week. Mundell leads the entire Pacific Coast League with a .373 average and ranks fifth with a .440 OBP.
Triple-A: Albuquerque Isotopes, 3-4 (27-31)
After a rough week last week in which he went 5-for-28 with ten strikeouts, Josh Fuentes (no. 16 PuRP) rebounded a little bit this week. He went 7-for-24 with four strikeouts, but also hit his fifth home run of the season. That ties him with Mundell and Yonathan Daza (no. 14 PuRP). Fuentes has fallen back down to earth a little bit this year — through June 2, 2018, he was hitting .321/.354/.500 with six home runs. In 2019, he’s hitting .263/.319/.446 with five home runs. He hasn’t been playing terribly, but hopefully he can get closer to his 2018 PCL MVP form in June.
Double-A: Hartford Yard Goats, 4-2 (32-23)
Yard Goats reliever Ben Bowden (no. 17 PuRP) has been pitching very well in 2019. In 22 2⁄3 innings, he has a 1.19 ERA after giving up only three runs on seven hits. One of those has been a home run. That ranks him third on the team in ERA and he leads the team with a 0.53 WHIP. This week alone, he pitched another three innings without surrendering a run. Bowden has not surrendered a run since April 10 — a 20 inning scoreless streak. During that time, he has also only given up five hits, the last of which was five innings ago on May 21.
High-A: Lancaster JetHawks, 1-6 (27-28)
Ryan Rolison (no. 5 PuRP) gave up his fourth home run, which was the only run he surrendered in another six inning performance. He also struck out four without a single walk on 83 pitches.
Low-A: Asheville Tourists, 4-3 (24-32)
Tourists’ first baseman Grant Lavigne (no. 6 PuRP) had a breakout week this week, going 10-for-23 with two home runs. He also only struck out four times. Those two home runs moved him into a tie for third on the team with Kyle Datres. Lavigne is also tied for second in RBI with Terrin Vavra (no. 13 PuRP). He leads the team with 33 walks, but also leads with 58 strikeouts.
