Rockies select Peter Lambert from Albuquerque, place Mike Dunn on IL

The Rockies no. 2 prospect will make his debut in historic Wrigley

The Rockies have selected the contract of their top pitching prospect, Peter Lambert, the club announced. Lambert, 22, will be the third youngest starting pitcher to debut in franchise history. In 11 starts with the Isotopes this season, he has posted a 2-2 record with a 5.07 ERA, 16 walks, and 51 strikeouts. His best performance came on May 24th when he pitched seven shutout innings against the Las Vegas Aviators (Triple-A Oakland A’s) and struck out ten batters. Lambert has a career 3.92 ERA with 117 walks and 422 strikeouts over 97 minor league games since being drafted in the second round out of San Dimas High School in 2015.

In corresponding moves, the Rockies placed left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn on the 10-day IL with left A/C Joint inflammation retroactive to June 3rd. Dunn is 1-0 with a 5.19 ERA in 27 appearances this year. Lefty Harrison Musgrave was also transferred to the 60-day IL with a left elbow flexor strain.
