Colorado Rockies game no. 93 thread: Jeff Samardizija vs. German Márquez

Start time, lineups, and discussion for the first game of a split doubleheader

The Rockies (46-46) earned their first home series victory since mid-June this weekend, and they’re hoping to do the same this week against the suddenly resurgent San Francisco Giants (43-49), who are 8-2 in their last 10 games. Today is the start of a four-game series with a day-night doubleheader. The first game is the make up from a rain/snow out on May 8.

While the division is more or less wrapped up for the Dodgers (the Rockies and Dbacks are 14 12 games back), the Rockies are only 1 12 games behind the Phillies for the second Wild Card and only three games behind the Nationals for the lead. Considering their schedule for the next month or so, the Rockies need to capitalize against a less-good team like the Giants.

German Márquez (8-4, 4.45 ERA) hopes to tame Coors Field and the Giants while Jeff Samardizija (6-7, 4.01 ERA) takes the hill fo the Giants.
