The Rockies were swept by the Astros in the final of a two game set at Coors Field. Peter Lambert gave up two home runs early, but walks in the third inning came back to haunt. This is the Rockies’ first losing series since May 3-5 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Charlie Blackmon was on base three times
Charlie Blackmon was named National League Player of the Month for June this morning, and he showed some of why that title was earned tonight. He led off the ballgame with a walk and was on base a total of three times. He was the only Rockies player to be on base more than once. In the seventh, he hit an RBI single to drive in Ryan McMahon standing on second base after a double. Blackmon has now reached base in 32 consecutive games, which is the fifth-longest on-base streak to start a season in Rockies history. Unfortunately, all of this was not enough to propel the Rockies to a win.
Lambert settled in after three innings
Despite giving up two home runs in the first two innings, Lambert settled in after the third. He ultimately went five innings and gave up four earned runs. After the third inning, he retired six straight Astros before walking Alex Bregman and then getting Michael Brantley to fly to center. This is Lambert’s first career MLB loss since he did not factor in the June 27th game against the Dodgers.
Coming up next
