The Colorado Rockies saw their losing streak extend to four as they lost 8-0 in Friday’s series opener in Arizona. Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker hit a pair of home runs, a two-run homer to start the scoring in the fourth and a three-run shot to cap Arizona’s six-run fifth inning. The Rockies, meanwhile, recorded just five hits in the loss.
Rockies bats looked fairly hopeless against Arizona ace Zack Greinke on Friday. He pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts. Three of the Rockies four hits against Greinke were singles, with the fourth being a Raimel Tapia double with two outs in the seventh. Greinke threw 104 pitches, 71 of them for strikes.
The Rockies will look to snap their four-game losing streak tomorrow with Jon Gray on the mound against Arizona’s Robbie Ray. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. Mountain time.
