Colorado Rockies: Jeff Bridich and what led to 2019’s disappointment | Rox Pile
Jeff Bridich is not one for long-winded speeches, and he tried to put into words what led to the rough year that includes the worst month in franchise history. It’s hard to say exactly what happened. Analysts at the start of the year didn’t expect the Rockies to make the playoffs, but they also didn’t think they would the past two times they did. This year, though, pitching has fallen through, and run prevention hasn’t been stellar. It’s frustrating, too, that the Rockies didn’t make many deadline moves last year, sticking with what they had rather than planning for future seasons. The Rockies have been kind of nervous all year, with tension since that rough start to the year. They were set up to buy this year, but they fell apart before it could come to that. Things haven’t gone well, without a doubt, but hopefully the decisions the team has made in recent past will bode well in the future.
Colorado Rockies podcast: The plan for the rest of 2019 | Rox Pile
Listen in as the rest of the 2019 season is discussed. We’ve more or less been knocked out of playoff contention, so the remainder of this year could best be spent evaluating the current roster and planning out moves for the offseason. The podcast covers potentially moving Wade Davis out of the closer role and switching to Scott Oberg or Carlos Estevez. Then they talk about possibly switching up the infield positions to optimize the players.
Opinion: Rockies’ quiet deadline will loom large in upcoming years | Mile High Sports
The trade deadline has come and gone, and the Rockies have very little to report. There were potential moves that could have been made, but the Rockies almost need too much to try and fix with this kind of move. They need several starters to fill in the dismal rotation, and beyond scrapping the whole lineup and starting fresh, the trade deadline didn’t offer much opportunity. The Rockies didn’t have enough to offer to get a deal for a good player. However, they could have considered getting some things off the checklist to help with the team in the future.

The Isotopes were able to string together solid offense in the game against Memphis, with Sam Hilliard and Roberto Ramos getting multiple hits. Jeff Hoffman started the game well, allowing just three runs on six hits in his five innings pitched.
