The Rockies (65-85) have won as many games in the month of September as they did all of July. Tonight they welcome the New York Mets (77-72) as they try to make it seven wins and four in a row. The Mets are still clinging to the edge of the playoff race, four games behind the Cubs for the second Wild Card with 13 games to go.
Antonio Senzatela takes the hill for the Rockies coming off one of his best starts of the season. On Wednesday he went six innings and allowed just one run on four hits with five strikeouts. The question tonight will be whether he can maintain control over his slider and curve to dice up the Mets as he did the Cardinals.
Steven Matz (10-8, 3.84 ERA) has had a tale of two seasons. He’s 7-1 with a 1.94 ERA at Citi Field this season and 3-7 with a 6.08 ERA on the road. Tonight’s start comes on the road—in Coors Field no less.
Don’t let the presence of Ian Desmond and Drew Butera in the lineup ruin your evening.
