Which uniform was a winner for the 2020 Rockies?

It was a bad year for Rockies baseball, but they did have one winning uniform

Back in April, I wrote a piece considering which of the Rockies’ uniforms was the best. I voted for the black vests, but 41% of those who responded to the poll went the purple jerseys.

Now that the season has ended (all 26-34 games of it), I was curious as to how the Rockies fared when wearing their various uniforms this year. Here’s what the data show.

Purple Jerseys 1-4

This year, the purple jersey magic did not work for the Rockies.

Sorry, Kyle Freeland — who had largely abandoned purple before the season ended. The look is still distinctive and classic, but please, Rockies, bring back the pinstriped pants. The solid whites look bad and have brought nothing but pain.

White Pinstripes 12-11

The Rockies wore their purple pinstripes a lot, and they also had their only winning record when wearing them.

It’s still a unique twist on a classic look. And can we take a moment to appreciate those socks? The purple is luscious while the mountains add some Rockies-centric majesty.

Gray Jerseys 12-13

The road grays really grew on me this year, and if you look closely, they’ve got a nice purple undershading going on.

In addition to spiffing up a gray uniform, they almost helped the Rockies to a .500 record when wearing them, but not quite. (Hey, Rockies, can you please make the road grays available in women’s sizes?)

Black Vests — 1-6

It was a bad year for the black vests.

As a Rockies fan, this one is hard because the black vests are iconic. But 2020 is weird, and everything is broken, and it just wasn’t their year.

Now the Rockies’ 2020 season is over, and it’s time to look ahead. So is it time for a new uniform or a freshening up of their existing uniforms? Or should they stay their current uniform course?

Yes. It’s time for a change, and if we can’t do a rebuild, new unis are the next best thing.

No. These uniforms are classics. (And that money should be spent on finding a lefty reliever.)

Both. Let’s keep what we’ve got, but modernize them a bit.
