Sim Marlins 10, Sim Rockies 2: Castellani gets clobbered in Rockies debut

Welcome to the big leagues, Ryan!

A 10-2 Sim Marlins win extended the Sim Rockies losing streak to 10 games. It all started with a four-run second inning and escalated from there.

Ryan Castellani’s first outing was short lived after he gave up six runs in just 2 13 innings pitched. His final line was: 6 H 6 ER 6 BB 3 K (60 pitches).

Miami takes charge

Castellani’s early exit left the rest of the game up to the Rockies’ bullpen; however, they couldn’t hold off the Marlins either. In his first inning of work after relieving Castellani, Jeff Hoffman gave up another run, and the Marlins now had a solid 7-0 lead by the end of the third. Although, it was Corey Dickerson, a former Rockie, who helped extend Miami’s lead. In the fourth, Dickerson hit an RBI sac fly (8-0 Marlins), then an RBI single off Jake McGee in the eighth (9-0 Marlins). The scoring didn’t stop there, though. In the same inning, Garrett Cooper hit a double to drive in Dickerson — 10-0 Marlins. Luckily, that was the last of the scoring for the Marlins.

Nolan Arenado sent one deep to left for a two-run shot and got the Rockies on the board, 10-2. They still lost by quite a bit, but the silver lining here is that Arenado’s home run put an end to Pablo Lopez’s chance at a complete game shutout. So, at least there is that.
