The Sim Rockies dropped game two of the series to the Sim Phillies Saturday night, and Colorado’s record now sits at 21-29 on the season.
The Phillies got this game going in the top of the second with a two-run home run from their shortstop, Didi Gregorious. Philadelphia held their 2-0 lead all the way to the sixth inning where they tacked on an insurance run (3-0 Phillies).
Rockies tie it up
The Rox came back in the bottom of the sixth to earn a few runs of their own. Trevor Story led off the inning with a solo home run, his 13th of the season, and Ian Desmond hit an RBI double to left and drove in McMahon. Chris Owings followed up Desmond’s double with one of his own to tie the game up 3-3.
In the seventh, Philadelphia regained the lead with two RBI doubles from both Andrew McCutchen and Bryce Harper (5-3 Phillies). With Harper in scoring position, Rhys Hoskins singled the right fielder in. The Phillies continued to add to their run total with a two-run shot courtesy of Jean Segura and a solo home run from McCutchen to give them a six-run lead.
The Rockies failed to answer back, and the Phillies cemented their win 9-3.
The Rockies will try to take the series on Sunday. Freeland is scheduled to start against Zack Wheeler. There will not be a broadcast of the game.
