Sim Rockies 7, Sim Tigers 1: The Rockies snapped their slump and we got tacos

Márquez pitched well, the offense hit well, all was well

The Sim Rockies were in a bad place, after losing seven of their last eight contests. Heading to Detroit and playing in an American League ballpark for the first time in 2020 seemed to be the remedy the Rockies needed for an easy win.

Germán engineering

After a bad start last week that didn’t see him get out of the third inning, Germán Márquez pitched eight solid innings for the Rockies in Motor City. He gave up nine hits, but his only earned run came from a solo homer off the bat of Niko Goodrum in the fifth inning. He also walked two batters and struck out six. Márquez has been consistently inconsistent pretty much all season so far, but hopefully this is a turning point for him.

Tell me a Story about Murphy and Dahl

Every single Rockie got at least one hit in the game, but Trevor Story, Daniel Murphy, and David Dahl all had multi-hit games, including three extra-base hits. Murphy went hitless all last week, but finished 3-for-4 with a walk in this game. David Dahl was on base each of his five plate appearances, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He got the Rockies’ offense going in the fourth inning with a towering home run to right field. Not to be outdone, Trevor Story knocked a ball out of the yard in his subsequent at-bat. Between these three, they finished 9-for-13 with four runs scored, three RBI, two walks, a double, and two home runs. Not too shabby.
