Sim Reds 3, Sim Rockies 2: Freddy Galvis homer sinks Rockies in Gray-off

One swing of the bat is all it took on Friday night for the Reds to win the battle of the Grays.

It was a good ol’ fashioned pitcher’s duel on Friday night at Sim Coors Field between two pitchers with the same last night. Unfortunately, Jon blinked first and Sonny and the Sim Reds sunk the Sim Rockies, 3-2. The difference maker was a Freddy Galvis three-run home run in the top of the fourth.

Grayed out

The much anticipated matchup between Jon Gray and Sonny Gray didn’t disappoint. While neither pitcher lasted into the sixth inning, it wasn’t for poor performance. Sonny allowed just two runs on one hit but with five walks and five strikeouts, while Jon allowed three runs on four hits with just one walk and six strikeouts. Jon, for his efforts, ended up on the losing end but it was an encouraging performance nonetheless.

Freddy the Hammer

Sim Freddy Galvis didn’t have the best day, going just 1-for-4. Unfortunately for the Rockies, that “one” was a big one. Eugenio Suarez walked to lead-off the fourth, and Tucker Barnhart singled after a Joey Votto strikeout. Then, a day after smacking a pair of homers, Galvis stepped up to the plate and knocked his fifth home run of the season. Those were three of the five baserunners Gray allowed but they were enough to secure a victory for the Sim Reds.
