Sim Rockies 4, Sim Dodgers 2: A win for Grills, a win for Colorado

Great pitching leads to a Rox win

The Sim Rockies came out swinging on Saturday after falling behind 2-0 in the 4-game series against the Sim Dodgers. Evan Grills earned his second win, in just as many starts, and pitched six solid innings to help the Rockies defeat their NL West rivals, 4-2.

The Rox took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Nolan Arenado in the top half of the third. The Dodgers, however, came back with two runs of their own on AJ Pollock’s third home run of the season to score both he and Cody Bellinger. But, thanks to a solo jack by Ryan McMahon, the Rockies tied it up 2-2 in the sixth inning.

Rockies take the lead for good

In the seventh, Dodgers’ bullpen pitcher, Joe Kelly was charged with the loss after giving up two RBI singles to Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon. L.A. came up empty in the bottom of the eighth and ninth, Scott Oberg walked away with the save.

Offensive highlights

Story, who batted in the leadoff spot, went 2-for-3 with 1 R, 1 RBI, and 2 BB. Arenado had one hit and one RBI on the night and leads the team with a .315 batting average.
