Colorado Rockies game no. 1 thread: German Márquez vs. Lance Lynn

Rockies open up the shortened season on the road against the Rangers

After a long wait and much anticipation, the Colorado Rockies will face off against the Texas Rangers on Friday night. German Márquez will take the mound for the Rockies for his first Opening Day start. He has pitched well over the past two seasons for the Rockies establishing himself as the staff ace. His season line in 2019 was 12-5, 174 IP, 4.76 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 175 K. The Rockies will start the season sending out a left-handed heavy lineup featuring only two right-handed hitters: Trevor Story and perennial All-Star and Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado.

The Rangers will be handing the ball to Lance Lynn, who had a surprise bounce back season in 2019 where he went 16-11 with a 3.67 ERA and finished fifth on the Cy Young ballot in the American League.
