Colorado Rockies game no. 25 thread: Cristian Javier vs. Germán Márquez

Start time, lineups, discussion, and how to watch for the series finale in Denver

After losing two one-run games in Houston, the Rockies (13-11) got blown out last night by the Astros (14-10), so it’s up to German Marquez to play the role of stopper and try to avoid the sweep.

The Rockies stand four games back of the Dodgers for the NL West lead and are virtually tied with San Diego for second after the Padres went on a three game winning streak right when the Rockies started losing. In other words, it is really important for the Rockies playoff hopes that they earn a win in Denver today.

Márquez has been stellar so far in 2020. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his five starts this season and thrown six-plus innings in four of them. Unfortunately, he pairs his 2.25 ERA with a 2-3 record, as the Rockies have lost each of his last two starts thanks in large part to shoddy defense: Germán has allowed just four earned runs in his last 13 innings, but also four unearned runs.
